Watsonville burglary suspect arrested after tip from community member

A man wanted for a Watsonville burglary is behind bars after a tip from a community member led to his arrest.

Police arrested 39-year-old Antonio Acevedo. They say he was wanted for breaking into a home on Holly Drive and stealing thousands of dollars worth of items in May.

Officers posted surveillance footage of the burglary and Acevedo’s mugshot on social media. A community member recognized him Wednesday, and officers, along with K-9 Ranger, arrested Acevedo after he was found hiding in an SUV on the 400 block of Winchester Drive.

Acevedo is booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on burglary charges. Police are still looking for the stolen items.
