Injured man gets airlifted from rocks in Pacific Grove

A man was injured and airlifted after falling on rocks at a beach in Pacific Grove.

According to Pacific Grove Police, the incident occurred Sunday around 5:07 p.m. in the 1400 block of Ocean View Boulevard, an area known as “Foghorn turnout.”

After assessing the man, a sergeant requested Monterey Fire and American Medical Response’s assistance.

Firefighters used a 100 foot aerial ladder to safely pull the patient up and out in a stokes basket. The rescue was completed in 45 minutes.

“As beautiful the ocean is, the rocks can be a dangerous place, whether wet or dry. Please walk cautiously and avoid turning your back to the water, no matter the tide level,” said PGPD.

The injured man was taken to Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula with moderate injuries to his legs.
