Central Coast couple helping hurricane victims

From hundreds of miles away, a Central Coast couple is helping those impacted by the devastating Hurricanes.

Sarah Blackstone and Harvey Pressman have created a website for those with communication challenges to be able to reach out for help. Those with severe disabilities who are unable to speak are among the hardest hit by disasters. The couple and United States Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication have set up a website that enables people with disabilities who can’t use their natural speech and rely on other ways to communicate to connect with the help they need.

Sarah and Harvey are both members of Community Emergency Response Volunteers (CERV) of the Monterey Peninsula. They helped manage a very successful recovery website during and after the Soberanes Fire in Monterey County. After seeing the success of that website, the couple launched the website for those with communication challenges.
