Hollister Police search for suspect near San Benito High

The Hollister Police Department initiated a shelter in place at San Benito High School while officers searched for a suspect near the campus.

According to Police, the shelter in place was lifted Wednesday around 9:49 a.m. Hollister Police Chief, David Westrick said a suspect has been fully identified and as far as the department knows the person is not armed.

Before the lockdown was lifted, Chief Westrick posted this statement to his Facebook page:

“High school is on shelter / lockdown just for precaution. We are searching for a suspect a few blocks over. No threats at the high school at all. Our job is the safety of your kids and the students.”

The case is being actively investigated.
