UPDATE: Aptos structure fire extinguished

UPDATE: 9/1/2017 3:35 p.m. Cal Fire officials said a fire burning in Aptos has been extinguished.

A small shed caught fire near Paseo Benito and was extinguished within an hour. Firefighters used hose lines and air support to quickly put the flames out.

Crews are now working to extinguish the vegetation that caught fire nearby. Officials said that fire spread to about an acre however it has been contained as of 3:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A structure fire has spread to vegetation in Aptos.

According to Cal Fire officials, a call about a house on fire at 150 Paseo Benito came in around 2:18 p.m. The fire has since spread into nearby brush areas.

Aptos Fire Department said multiple agencies are on scene including air support.

Fire officials advise drivers to stay clear of Vienna Drive and Hass Drive. No injuries have been reported.

Cabrillo Bookstore tweeted that the campus is closed due to two nearby fires.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
