Crews remove homeless camp near Highway 101

Landscape crews demolished a homeless camp alongside Highway 101 in Salinas Thursday.

Crews from UV Landscaping used a front loader to clear trash and take down tents from a camp that has grown since the City of Salinas removed a large homeless encampment in the city’s Chinatown neighborhood in March.

Don Reynolds, project manager for the city of Salinas, told KION’s Mariana Hicks the city did not order today’s sweep.
