The Floriston Fire remained at 613 acres and 5% containment Thursday morning as evacuation orders stayed in place and westbound Interstate 80 remained closed near the Nevada state line.

Cal Fire’s Thursday morning update showed no increase in acreage from Wednesday evening.

The wildfire is burning near I-80 and Floriston Way, about nine miles northeast of Truckee.

An evacuation order remains in effect for Nevada County zone NCO-E379-A. Warnings remain for NCO-E379-B, NCO-E105 and NCO-E106, along with Sierra County zones SIE-E099 and SIE-E100-B.

Westbound I-80 also remains closed near the Nevada state line because of the fire. Caltrans is urging drivers to avoid the area, expect delays and use alternate routes.

A live evacuation map shows the affected zones.

The Floriston Fire started Wednesday morning and spread rapidly during its first several hours, prompting evacuations and forcing the closure of westbound I-80.

The cause of the Floriston Fire remains under investigation.
