Seaside City Council votes in new member

The Seaside City Council has voted to bring in Alissa Kispersky as its new council member.

Kispersky will be sworn in Thursday, January 24th at 7 p.m.

On Thursday night, the council heard comments from the public before voting on 13 candidates vying to fill the seat once held by Councilwoman Kayla Jones.

Jones left her seat after a controversial run for Mayor and accusations of harrassment agains fellow her councilmembers.

California law stated the council had to appoint a candidate or call a special election to fill the seat and the council decided to appoint a candidate.

Kispersky will stay on the council through the remainder of Jones’ term which ends in November 2020.
