Public Works warns of Monterey County road closures Thursday

Davis Road between Hitchcock and Reservation Road will be closed starting at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Monterey County Public Works says the closure is because of rising river levels, and it’s expected to stay closed until Tuesday, January 22.

The gates will be locked a quarter mile north of Reservation and a quarter mile south of Foster Road.

Until it reopens, the detour will be to take Hitchcock Road east, turn right on Highway 68 and take Exit 20 for Reservation Road.

Elm Avenue between Espinosa Road and Metz Road in Greenfield may be closed on Thursday.

Monterey County Public Works says the river there is forecasted to rise, and the road will be closed if the river overtops the roadway.

Levels are expected to be high for about 12 hours.

If Public Works goes through with the closure, the street will be closed to all vehicles and pedestrians, and the gates will be locked.

They suggest using Highway 101 between Soledad and King City instead.
