At least 2,000 without power in the Carmel Valley area

UPDATE 1/16/2019 7:30 p.m. Pacific Gas and Electric says a power outage affecting more than 2,000 people in Carmel Valley may have been caused by an equipment issue.

Crews are still assessing the cause, but the company has not said when they expect power to be restored.

PREVIOUS STORY: Thousands of people are without power in the Carmel Valley area.

According to Pacific Gas and Electric, the outage is affecting 2,025 PG&E customers.

The outage occurred around 3:19 p.m. Wednesday.

PG&E has assigned a crew to assess the cause of the outage.

An estimated restoration time has not been determined.
