NJROTC Program needs to hire second teacher to meet Navy Requirements

The Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps has been so successful at Everett Alvarez High School, the program needs to higher a second teacher.

The NJROTC program has more than doubled in recent years. Since its growth the Navy said they now need a second teacher to meet requirements.

The Navy helps fund the program, which is why they have a say in how many instructors are needed.

There were concerns at first that the district was not going to find or hire a second teacher, but the district says that’s not the case and this program is here to stay.

“This program is here to stay, the administration at Everett Alvarez High School is 100 percent behind this program. We brought it back from the dead and it had actually been decertified at one point and the Western Regional Commanding Officer told us we’re the only campus that he knows about that has brought it back,” says Principal Matthew Fleming.
