Drivers survive horrific crash near Carmel Highlands

Two good Samaritans helped free a driver from a burning car after a crash near Carmel Highlands.

The two car accident happened on Highway 1, south of Fern Canyon Road Monday morning.

Cal Fire BEU said the crash could have been much worse if no one stopped to help.

“They were there prior to any emergency crews and were able to free the driver of the vehicle that caught fire,” said Cal Fire BEU. “Without their actions the injuries could have been much worse.”

The two drivers were taken to local hospitals for evaluation.
