Sex offender caught inside women’s bathroom at Cabrillo College

A registered sex offender was caught inside the women’s bathroom at Cabrillo College.

The incident happened around 12 p.m. Tuesday.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office said 25-year-old Kenneth Wilder was looking under stalls and making threats in the women’s bathroom.

A 20-year-old woman tried to confront Wilder as he was leaving the bathroom.

The sheriff’s office said Wilder pushed the door shut, striking the woman in the head.

“The victim escaped and called the Sheriff’s Office. Within hours, Sheriff’s Detective’s identified Kenneth Wilder from video surveillance at Cabrillo College,” said Sgt. Dee Baldwin.

Detectives located Wilder at Target in Capitola and place him under arrest.

Wilder was booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail and is being held without bail.

There are currently just over 300 registered sex offenders living in Santa Cruz County.
