Crop values drop in Santa Cruz County

Berries make up almost two thirds of the production of Santa Cruz County crops.

In the 2017 annual report, crops are valued at $581,200,00 a nine percent decline from 2016.

Strawberries remain the top crop in Santa Cruz County but slightly declined due to a drop in acres under production.

The Agricultural Commissioner Juan Hidalgo says the decline comes from the minimization of acres of crops.
