Recreational marijuana now legal in California

With a new year comes new laws. Some have been highly anticipated, like the sale of recreational marijuana. Some dispensaries on the Central Coast are now selling recreational pot, along side their medical cannabis.

Capitola Healing Association in Santa Cruz has seen a steady flow of customers all of New Year’s Day. Store manager Josh Lechner says he’s seen a mix of medical and recreational users coming in.

He adds that there are still perks to having a medical card, “with what you’re going to save on cost I would say it’s definitely worth it and medical people can have higher possession limits. They can have 8 ounces, where recreational can only have an ounce,” says Lechner.
