Monterey County welcomes New Year’s Day babies

As many people welcomed the New Year, several families in Monterey county welcomed new babies.

The nursing supervisor at Natividad Medical Center said a baby girl was born at 1:28 a.m. to a Pacific Grove couple. Hospital officials say everyone is fine.

Another baby girl was born just 10 o’clock Monday morning at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.

Julia Clerfe’s birth was a bit more special as her father, Francois, went through some extreme measures to get here. He’s part of the military and had been in Kuwait. He said he took ten connections on seven airlines, traveling some 8,000 miles to get here.

Three babies were also born at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.

KION’s Matt Sizemore speaks to Julia’s parents tonight at 5 p.m.
