Sheriff’s Office shuts down honey oil lab in Castroville

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office shut down a marijuana butane honey oil lab in Castroville.

Deputies stopped 23-year-old Castroville resident, Samuel Ceja and found him in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana “honey oil” for sales, on Thursday around 10 a.m.

Deputies busted Ceja while on probation and did a search of his Castroville home in the 11000 block of Poole Street.

“Inside the home deputies found more methamphetamine for sales and fully functional Butane Honey Oil Lab. Ceja also had a loaded firearm and ammunition,” said the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

Ceja was booked into the Monterey County Jail.

A butane honey oil lab is where marijuana is turned into concentrated cannabis by chemically extracting T.H.C. from the marijuana plant using highly explosive butane gas.

“Explosions frequently occur at these laboratories,” said the Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone with information about the location of any butane honey oil labs is asked to report them to the Sheriff’s Office.
