Having trouble finding gifts for loved ones? Think about giving experiences instead of presents..

Shopping for presents for loved ones can be challenging and sometimes costly. This year some are opting to give experiences rather than toys.

More cities are starting to encourage people to focus on spending time with family instead of focusing on buying presents.

The goal is to promote being outside and exploring different places with family or friends.

KION spoke with some parents today who said they loved the idea and how time is lost with famly when you’re focusing on what to get them.

Father, Javier Chavez says he is already thinking of what he can plan for his young daughter. “”I think it’s a great idea. I think we don’t really think about it as much as we should, but we are so close in it as far as a family, our family is close by and we don’t really want to get out and do it, but the experiences and all that, you can do it in your backyard, you can do it down the street at the park, now that you say that you’re giving me so many ideas,” says Chavez.

Some ideas for experiences are spending time in favorite or new spots in your town, going on a hike, playing games, the aquarium etc.
