Fast-moving wildfire in Ventura County near Santa Paula

UPDATE 12/4/17 10:16 p.m.: Cal Fire said the Thomas Fire has grown to 5,000 acres. Firefighters expect the fire to impact the City of Ventura tonight.

A fast-moving wildfire continues to grow in Ventura County.

The fire started around 6:30 p.m. Monday near Santa Paula, a city of 30,000 people. According to Cal Fire, the fire has grown to 2,500 acres.

70mph winds are making the firefight difficult.

The fire has forced part of Highway 150 to close and homes to be evacuated. Thomas Quinas College has also been evacuated.
