Watsonville woman faces multiple charges for involvement in deadly hit and run

A woman crossing the street on Soquel Drive and Rosedale Avenue in Soquel was fatally hit by a driver under the influence who left the scene at about 5 p.m. on Saturday, the California Highway Patrol said.

Deputies said Julissa Guzman, 21, hit an 86 year old Capitola woman as she was crossing the street.

Officials said the elderly woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Guzman left the scene but was found in a parking lot a short distance away.

Officials arrested Guzman who is facing charges for vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, among other charges.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.
