Salinas man celebrates his 102nd birthday

A Salinas man celebrated his 102nd birthday today.

Mike Gutierrez celebrated his birthday today with cake at Natividad Medical Center’s Acute Rehabilitation Center.

Gutierrez, who is recovering from a hip fracture, is in very good spirits. “He loves the attention,” said his daughter Angie.

Gutierrez has 6 children and 10 grandchildren. A self-taught musician who plays accordion, bass, guitar and the drums, he treated his family, along with hospital staff and fellow patients, to a special birthday performance.
