Man caught bashing windows at Watsonville Police Station

A Watsonville man was arrested for allegedly walking around his home town bashing windows, including some at the police station.

Watsonville Police said, on Saturday around 11:09 p.m. officers responded to the area of the library on the 200 block of Main Street after reports of a man randomly breaking windows of businesses and cars. Witnesses followed the man to the area of the Police Department lobby on Union Street. Officers confronted 31-year-old Peter Fermin Gil as he held a bat in his hand.

Gil had shattered several large windows around the lobby area of the police station. Police said even though Gil was compliant as he was being arrested, he screamed that he needed to “die at the cross.”

In total, the suspect vandalized five business, two cars, and the police station.

Officers believe Gil was under the influence of drugs and he was transported to the Watsonville Community Hospital for care.

Gil was later booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail for felony vandalism.
