Man shot in the face in Salinas

One person is in the hospital after being shot in the face and arm in Salinas.

According to police, it happened on Amarillo Way Tuesday night. Police said officers were in the area on Caoba Way for an unrelated welfare check when they were flagged down by someone who had just witnessed a shooting nearby.

Officers found evidence of a shooting and then learned the victim was taken to Natividad Medical Center.

Police said the victim was in his car in front of his home when he was shot.

The suspect is described as wearing dark clothing, about 25-27 years old, 5’10 to 5’11 and 140 to 150 pounds.

The suspect took off on foot heading southbound on Rider Avenue.

The shooting is being investigated as gang-related.
