Salinas man hit bicyclist with his car after argument

A heated argument ended in attempted murder, after one man decided to use his car as a weapon.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday Salinas Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle collision involving a red Ford Mustang and a bicyclist in the area of Delancey Drive and Sutton Way.

When officers responded they saw a red Ford Mustang speeding through the parking lot of Natividad Medical Center. 28-year-old Juan Carlos Lorenzo Rubio was arrested. The investigation revealed that Rubio had gotten into an argument with the 16-year-old victim before driving up onto the sidewalk and intentionally striking him. The victim was treated on scene.

Rubio was transported to the Monterey County Jail and booked for attempted murder, threats and fleeing the scene of the collision.
