Event raises money to help local alternative school for at-risk youth

Rancho Cielo held their 7th annual Family Fun Day and BBQ in Salinas.

Festivities included live entertainment, zip lining, and lots of other family fun.

Officials said their hoping to raise $150,000. Proceeds will go to Rancho Cielo, which provides a campus for students where they can finish up earning high school credits and learn a trade in construction or the culinary field.

“The goal is to change the cycle and give young people an opportunity,” said Rancho Cielo Chairmen of the Board Dan Chapin. “Give them some self-esteem. Hook them up with mentors. Put people in their lives that can help them and make them successful.”

Rancho Cielo helps about 150 students a year between the ages of 16 to 24 years old.
