Missing at-risk Ceres teen found in Salinas

UPDATE 8/22/2017 3:42 p.m. The missing 13-year-old girl from Ceres California has been found safe in Salinas.

According to Commander Sheldon Bryan with Salinas Police, Vanessa Zendejas was found at her 14-year-old boyfriends home in Salinas. She was in good health and reunited with her family.

The boys parents were unaware that she was a runaway, they are not facing any charges.

Ceres Police tracked down the last phone number on Zendejas phone and tracked it to the hosue.

The boy is someone she met online last year.

A 13-year-old girl from Ceres California has been missing since Saturday and her family believes she could be in Monterey County.

Vanessa Zendejas went missing after her mother left for the grocery store on August 19. Her family said she left behind personal items like her cell phone.

The Ceres Police Department is asking for the public’s help locating Zendejas as they believe she may be in danger.

Zendejas’ family said the same day, Vanessa was speaking with someone on social media from Salinas, and they believe she may be in the area. The department said Zendejas’ last social media post also claims she was going to meet someone for the first time.

There are also recent reports of Vanessa making threats to harm herself.

Vanessa is 5’1, 110 lbs, has brown eyes and long black hair, and usually wears black glasses.
