Record year for auctions at Concours d’Elegance

A record breaking year for some cars at the Gooding & Company auction at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

According to Gooding & Company, more than $91.5 million in cars sold at auctions over the weekend with 110 of 135 lots and average of $832,670 per car. 22 cars sold at or above the $1 million mark.

The 1970 Porsche 917K became the most valuable Porsche ever sold at auction with a realized price of $14,080,000. That broke the previous record held by Gooding & Company at more than $10 million in 2015 for a 1982 Porsche 956.

The star of Saturday’s auction, a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/C, also set a record at $14,520,000.

“In addition to the many record prices achieved, our auctions have demonstrated that cars of the highest quality and from long-term ownership continue to be in high demand,” said David Gooding, President and Founder of Gooding & Company. “We certainly feel our new earlier schedule proved to be a winner for both buyers and sellers at our event.”
