Man arrested after crashing into Salinas home

A wanted parolee is behind bars after leading police on a chase and crashing into a home in Salinas.

According to Salinas Police, an officer tried to pull over 38-year-old Noel Sierra in the area of East Market Street and North Hebbron Avenue at 4:30 a.m. Friday, August 18th. Sierra refused to stop and then led officers on a chase.

Police said Sierra turned into a driveway on North Madeira where he hit a parked car and crashed into the corner of a home. A man sleeping inside the home was thrown from his bed and across the room. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released for back and side pain.

After the crash, Sierra took off on foot and jumped fences to try and get away. He was found in the backyard of a nearby residence and arrested.

The home Sierra crashed into had to be red tagged because of the damage done from the accident. Three adults and three children who live there are now without a home. The Red Cross is helping them.

Salinas Fire and PG&E helped with the investigation.

Sierra was wanted on a felony no bail warrant for parole violation. He was later booked into the Monterey County Jail for parole violation, felony hit and run, evading law enforcement and other charges.
