Lockdown lifted after shooting threat made towards North Monterey County High School

A high school in Castroville was put on lockdown after receiving a phone call from someone threatening to shoot up the school.

A Commander with the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office told KION, a 9-11 call came in around 1 p.m. Monday when a person threatened to shoot up North Monterey County High School.

District officials with North Monterey County Unified said the school was placed on lockdown immediately. The schools resource officer and 9 other deputies cleared everyone off the campus and conducted a search of the school.

No threat was found and school was back in session by 3 p.m.
