Vintage cars to race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca during Car Week

Car Week officially starts Friday, with a kick-off event in Monterey.

Dozens of vintage race cars will be on display on Alvarado Street before they hit the track at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca over the weekend.

“They have been working on these cars for the past 12 months preparing them for this event. So this is the culmination of a lot of hard work, passion, and dedication,” said Gill Campbell, Senior Vice President with Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

30 cars will be showcased downtown Monterey from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 11th.

The cars will then race in next week’s Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

“This is the largest and most prestigious, historic motor sports event in the world second to Goodwood in England. This is the jewel in the crown for this area and with everything else that goes on in the peninsula during this week, this is absolutely the most affordable and we go for longer so I think we’ve got everything going for us here,” said Campbell.
