Update: Police arrest man for shooting death of Hollister woman

UPDATE 8/9/2017 4:26 p.m. The Hollister Police Department has arrested a man for his involvement in the killing of a Hollister woman.

33-year-old Michael Simas was arrested Wednesday after he admitted to Hollister Police Detectives that the death of 40-year-old Lisa Hall was an accident. Simas told Detectives that an accident had occurred in his trailer on Orchard Road. He also told detectives where he disposed the gun.

Hollister Police Detectives recovered the handgun allegedly used in this shooting along Fairview Road. Police found the trailer after Simas moved it to Hanford, CA.

Hollister Police searched the trailer and found evidence pointing towards Simas’ involvement.

40-year-old Lisa Hall was shot around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday and dropped off at the hospital where she later died.

Simas was booked into the San Benito County Jail for murder and destruction of evidence.

A 40-year-old Hollister woman was shot and killed early Tuesday morning.

According to Hollister Police, Lisa Hall died at the hospital around 1:15 a.m. after suffering a gunshot wound. Hall was brought to the hospital by a man that would not or could not provide information about her injury, said police.

Hall had been visiting business establishments in downtown Hollister earlier in the night with the same man who brought her to the hospital. They left the downtown area after midnight in a dark blue lifted GMC pickup with a camper shell.

Police said there is a gap in time from when Hall left the downtown area and when she was brought to the hospital with the gunshot injury.
