Carmel Coach store burglar pleads guilty of no contest to commercial burglary

The man who robbed a Coach store in Carmel multiple times has pled guilty of no contest to commercial burglary, evading police officers, and hit and run causing injury.

On April 29, 33-year-old Timothy Callahan entered a Coach store in Carmel and stole approximately $1,740 worth of items. On May 5, Callahan went to the same Coach store and stole $1,800 worth of purses and merchandise. On June 12, the 33-year-old went back to the Coach store in Carmel however this time employees recognized Callahan and tried to stop him but he was able to get away with $1,275 worth of items.

Store employees were able to get a license plate for the car Callahan drove off in.

An officer from the Presidio of Monterey spotted Callahan’s car and tried to stop him but Callahan led the officer on a high speed chase. During the pursuit, Callahan hit another vehicle, injuring another driver. Callahan continued to flee the scene.

The suspect was ultimately taken into custody in Salinas. He will receive a sentence of 3 years and 4 months to be served in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Callahan is scheduled to be sentenced on July 28, 2017.
