Traffic stop leads to drug bust and 19K in cash

Sunday, a Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputy discovered 14 pounds of methamphetamine and more than $19,000 cash during a traffic stop.

The drug bust occurred on Highway 101 south of Salinas, at about 5:35 p.m.

Deputy M. Lilga deployed his K9 partner, Bond to search the outside of the vehicle. Bond gave an alert that narcotics were inside the car.

47-year-old Maria Guzman and 43-year-old Cayetano Guerrero were both arrested and booked into Monterey County Jail.
