Morgan Hill gas station employee fights off attacker, police arrest suspect

A 27-year-old Morgan Hill man was arrested Saturday following an attempted sexual assault at a Shell gas station on East Dunne Avenue, according to a press release from the Morgan Hill Police Department.

According to police, Richard Dollarhide grabbed a female Shell employee around the arms and dragged her towards the back-storage room of the gas station around 6:30 a.m. Saturday. The woman was able to fight off the attacker by hitting him in the face. The suspect sustained injuries to his face and ran away from the business, the release said. Shortly after the incident, police put the man’s photo on social media and with help from the public they were able to arrest him.

Dollarhide was taken into custody and booked at the Santa Clara County Jail for attempted sexual assault, kidnapping, false imprisonment and a parole violation.
