Caltrans fixes roads stemming from winter storms
UPDATE:According to Caltrans, work on Westbound Highway 218 at Via Verde in Del Rey Oak has been canceled. Work on Wednesday still planned for southbound Highway 1 between Rio and Carmel Valley Roads in Carmel, that work will be to clean up a slide. 15 minute delays are expected. Both these projects are stemming from winter storms that battered the area.
“It took a toll. We had hardly any rain and then we got hit hard. We just take it a day at a time and some days are longer,” said Caltrans Susana Cruz.
Repairs on highway 17 just from storm damage is right around $1.2 million dollars. On Highway 1, over 20 contracts written for $67 million. $24 million of which was spent on the Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge alone. What’s not included in that number is the massive slide South of Big Sur.
Ac cording to Caltrans they will start soon on pothole repairs to prep for the winter.
