Salinas man sentenced to 13 years behind bars

A 45 year old Salinas man will spend the next 13 years behind bars. David Camel was sentenced by a Monterey County judge after several run-ins with the law. He plead no contest to being a felon with a gun among other charges.

Camel was previously convicted on several counts of assault in Monterey County in 1996. He was also convicted in 1999 of assault in Santa Clara County. He then brandished a gun in front of the Fox Theater in Salinas last year and when officers tried to arrest him, he kicked one of the officers. He’s also kicked and been aggressive with deputies while in custody.

The judge sentenced him to 13 years in the California Department of Corrections.
