Monterey County deputies arrest 17-year-old facing charges for homicide

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested for the shooting death of 18-year-old Luis Enrique Hinojosa, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.

Hinojosa was found shot Feb. 12 on Old Stage and Spence Road in Salinas. Investigators believe he was killed in a gang-related shooting.

According to deputies, the 17-year-old was arrested earlier this week and is in custody at a juvenile hall.
