U.C. Santa Cruz student seriously injured in hit & run

A 20-year-old University of California, Santa Cruz student was seriously injured early Sunday morning when she was hit by a car while walking with friends across the southbound side Highway 1. The car did not stop, according to Santa Cruz Police Dept.

The victim has been taken to a Bay Area Trauma Center and is in critical conditions, police said.

The victim was hit when walking home from a Halloween event on River St. with friends when she crossed the southbound side of Highway 1 between River St. and Mission St., according to police.

The suspect’s did not stop. The car has been described as a silver colored 2010 or 2011 Honda CRV.

Investigators are asking people to be on the look out for the car with damage to the passenger side front bumper.
