State to target Halloween drinking

Agents from the California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) will step up education and enforcement programs during the coming Halloween weekend, the agency announced Monday.

ABC said the effort will be broad-based and focus on over-consumption and preventing sales of alcohol to minors.

“Too many Californians are killed or injured in alcohol-related crashes and incidents and hopefully education, prevention and enforcement efforts will prevent those tragedies from occurring,” said ABC Acting Director Ramona Prieto.

ABC also urged legal-age drinkers to designate a non-drinking driver prior to attending Halloween celebrations.
