Hollister swears in new K-9 officer

The City of Hollister now has a new K-9 officer.

K-9 Officer Dallas was sworn in as the newest member of the Hollister Police Department Thursday. The oath of office was given by Hollister’s Assistant City Clerk Christine Black. K-9 Officer Dallas marked the certificate with his paw.

Hollister Police officials said K-9 Officer Dallas and his handler, Officer Miguel Masso, recently finished their initial training and certification courses. They are already patrolling together.

According to the department, K-9 Officer Dallas was named in honor of the five fallen Dallas Police officers who were killed by a former Army reservist on July 7, 2016.
