Local science research organization opens its doors

Locals got a behind the scenes look at a local organization that studies the Monterey Bay every day.

Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute hosted its annual open house. Interactive activities, presentations and close ups of oceanographic research vessels were used to entertain and highlight some of the cutting edge science and technology that’s happening there.

“We care about the ocean,” said Kim Fulton-Bennett with MBARI. “We think that by sharing some of the information we have about the ocean, we can get other people to care about it.”

Building under water robots was a fan favorite.
