Flash Flood Watch issued for Loma Fire Burn Scar in the Santa Cruz Mountains

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for the Loma Fire Burn Scar in the Santa Cruz Mountains, according to the National Weather Service. Emergency officials with Santa Clara County are warning all residents planning to stay in the area to be prepared, and remain vigilant for any flooding or debris flows.

The South County Fire District, Cal Fire, and the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office are monitoring road conditions and say local roads, while wet and slippery, remain accessible.

Residents are reminded to be aware of hazardous driving conditions and to avoid unnecessary driving. Any resident in need of emergency assistance should call 9-1-1.

“The Office of Emergency Services will continue to coordinate efforts to help ensure the well-being of residents impacted by the recent Loma Fire,” said Dana Reed, Director of the Office of Emergency Services.

The Office of Emergency Services is in contact with the National Weather Service and will provide additional information as it becomes available. Non-emergency requests can still be called into the Loma Fire Community Support Line at (408) 808-7879 .
