Soberanes Fire containment reaches 95 percent

Officials said Tuesday morning that the Soberanes Fire is now 95 percent contained at 132,000 acres.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Department has modified the evacuation order for Tassajara Road from Chews Ridge south to the end of the road at Tassajara Hot Springs. This area will now be reduced to an evacuation warning, effective Tuesday at 8:00 a.m.

More than 1,000 firefighters continue to fight the Soberanes Fire. They hope to reach full containment by mid-October.
