Motorcyclist killed in crash with garbage truck

UPDATE 9/12/16 1:40 PM: A Santa Cruz man was killed Monday morning when he crashed into a garbage truck on East Cliff Drive near Prospect Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Tanner Guillory, 31, was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control if his Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle, crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the truck. Tanner died as a result of his injuries.

ORIGINAL POST: Officials say East Cliff Drive is closed from Prospect to 14th, due to a fatal accident. According to California Highway Patrol officers, a dump truck hit a motorcycle. Crews need to clear the area in order to investigate.
