Full closure tonight for Holman Highway 68 Roundabout Project

Starting Thursday night at 7 p.m. a full nighttime closure of eastbound and westbound traffic is expected. According to Project Manager Bobby Pentorali this closure is necessary for the next step of the project to get done.

“We removed all the soil there. We put in new compacted soil, which is really the base for the new roadway. Tonight we are going to come in and pave that. Once we finish the paving we are going to come back Sunday night, we’re going to do some traffic striping and we’re going to move some of the barriers out there,” said Project Manager Bobby Pentorali.

The construction work tonight and Sunday will be setting them up for stage three of the project, which is done behind concrete barriers. According to the project manager a bulk of the project will be getting done over the next few months.

Crews are expected to re-open the road by 6 a.m. Friday morning.

DETOUR ROUTE INFORMATION BELOW:

Cars: take southbound Highway 1 to Carpenter Street

Make a U-turn and continue north on Highway 1

Large trucks: take southbound Highway 1 to Ocean Avenue

Turn left onto Ocean Avenue (towards Carmel High School)

Turn Left onto Carmel Hills Drive

Turn Left onto Flanders Drive

Make a Right onto northbound Highway 1

Motorists from Northbound Highway 1 needing to access Holman Highway 68 will have the following detour:

Cars: exit northbound Highway 1 at Munras Avenue

Make a U-turn at Soledad Drive and return to southbound Highway 1

Exit to Holman Highway 68

Large trucks: exit northbound Highway 1 at Aguajito Road

Make a U-turn at Aguajito and return to Southbound Highway 1

Exit to Holman Highway 68
