Labor Day beach cleanup nets over 350 pounds of trash

A vacuum cleaner, barbeque grill, a bag of medical cannabis candy, drug paraphernalia, and some vinyl records were among the many items left behind by Labor Day beachgoers in Santa Cruz County.

On Tuesday, volunteers from Save Our Shores recovered 355 pounds of trash from Davenport Main Beach, Cowell/Main, Sunny Cove, Corcoran Lagoon/26th, and Del Monte Beach. The numbers are up 185 pounds from last year. Cigarette butts were the most common items picked up.
