UPDATE: Utah man’s body recovered in Santa Cruz

UPDATE 8/30/16 6:13 PM: The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office confirms the man found floating in the water near Lighthouse Point Monday afternoon was Dang Haus, 24, reported missing in Santa Cruz Aug 20.

Haus is from Utah. Deputies said foul play is not suspected but an autopsy will be done to determine how he died.

PREVIOUS STORY: A man’s body was pulled from the ocean near Lighthouse Point in Santa Cruz Monday afternoon, according to the fire department.

Crews said the man was reported floating in kelp near the lighthouse around 12:49 p.m.

Santa Cruz rescue swimmers and the Santa Cruz Harbor Patrol pulled the man out of the water. Authorities said they haven’t been able to identify him yet.

The Santa Cruz Police Department and the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office are investigating this case.
