Chimney Fire evacuation orders to be lifted

Monterey County residents evacuated from the Chimney Fire can go home Monday night.

Cal Fire officials announced they will lift all evacuation orders for the Chimney Fire at 5:00 p.m. Monday August 29. This includes the Bryson Hesperia area of Monterey County and all areas south and west of Lake San Antonio. All road closures will also be removed.

The Chimney Fire has burned 45,844acres and destroyed 49 homes and 21 other structures. As of Monday morning it was 61 percent contained.
