Soberanes Fire prompts several extended park closures

The Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District announced that several open spaces and park sites will remain closed through late summer and early fall as a result of the Soberanes Fire. District officials say they need to assess the fire’s impacts and prepare for each site’s reopening. Here are the expected dates for reopening:

– Cachagua Community Park: Closed until October 1

– Garland Ranch Regional Park: Closed until August 31

– Kahn Ranch at Garland Ranch Regional Park: Closed until October 1

– Mill Creek Redwood Preserve: Closed Indefinitely

– Palo Corona Regional Park: Closed until October 1

– Whisler-Wilson at Palo Corona Regional Park: Closed until October 1
