A Capitola man is accused of a shooting in Santa Cruz July 11 and was arrested by police on Thursday.

Officers said Jose Alonso Reyes, 25, was identified as the suspect after detectives followed a trail of leads. Search warrants were served at Reyes’ workplace in the 800 block of Almar Avenue and at his home in Capitola.

Police said they believe the gun that was used during the shooting was found inside a backpack that Reyes had with him at the time he was arrested.
